Skylarks - Y6
Computing
In Computing this week, Skylarks have been programming shapes into micro:bits. The micro:bits bring these shapes to life, letting them move, flash, and change. This makes the coding fun and visual, meaning that the children can see their ideas appear instantly.

Dance
In P.E. this term, we have been gymnasts and dancers! We are working on the 'Hoop jumping dance'. Watch this space...

Spring term Art
This term in Art, we have been exploring artists who experienced displacement and migration, including Pissarro, Kandinsky, Judith Kerr and Frank Auerbach. We looked at their work before and after migration and discussed how these experiences influenced their style, mood and subject matter.
The children are creating their own artwork, imitating these artists and experimenting with colour, texture and form to show change.

Handwriting week and practise SATs
This week, we celebrated Handwriting Week. The whole school took part in a wide range of activities including a 'handwriting relay', 'match the teacher to their handwriting' and some fun, in-class activities. In Skylarks, the children tried some mirror writing, along with bubble writing and calligraphy.
I have noticed some real progress and effort in handwriting recently, which has been great to see.
Last week, the children completed some practise SATs papers. Again, I have seen some great progress and they should be proud of that. I am offering a SATs revision club beginning next week (Thursday 23rd January) after school. The uptake so far has been fab! Please let me know by email if you would like your child to take part.
